Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly desperate to see their side sign some more players before the end of the transfer window tonight.
The men from north London have had a very quiet window when many were expecting them to throw the cash around but with hours left to go, they could still pull some rabbits out of the hat.
And, according to the Sun, one potentially crafty move that they are reportedly weighing up at the moment is trying to gazump Chelsea in the chase for powerful forward Fernando Llorente.
Spurs still need a back-up striker with Vincent Janssen not really proving himself good enough to support Harry Kane and so moving for a man who scored a good amount of goals in a relegation battle last season might make sense.
For sure, Llorente also has plenty of experience playing for the biggest clubs in the world and so he would surely adapt quickly to the added expectations that Spurs have this season.
In addition to that, meanwhile, our Spurs punters would love to get one over on Chelsea here.
Landlord’s Verdict
There’d been no real suggestion of this one this summer but now it has come to light it would be a deal that makes sense.
For sure, Spurs need more players and certainly need a back-up striker so bringing in the powerful Llorente – a Premier League proven player – would be ideal.
