Tottenham’s managerial situation looks increasingly uncertain heading into the summer, with Igor Tudor unlikely to remain in charge beyond the current campaign.
Brought in to steer the club away from danger, the Croatian has struggled to make an impact, failing to register a single Premier League win so far.
A heavy 3-0 defeat to relegation rivals Nottingham Forest last time out only deepened concerns, leaving Spurs hovering just above the drop zone and firmly in the survival fight.
With the threat of relegation looming, the club have already begun exploring potential replacements ahead of next season.
One high-profile name has now emerged — but any deal would depend on a crucial factor.
De Zerbi Open to Spurs Job
Roberto De Zerbi would be willing to take over at Tottenham — but only if they secure their Premier League status, according to reports from The Telegraph.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding their future, Spurs have continued planning behind the scenes and have already held initial discussions with the Italian coach, who has been out of work since leaving Marseille earlier this year by mutual agreement.
Tottenham are said to be targeting a manager with proven experience at the top level, particularly someone familiar with European competition, even if continental football may not be part of their immediate future.
De Zerbi still carries a strong reputation across Europe. He guided Marseille to a second-place Ligue 1 finish last season and previously earned widespread praise for his attacking philosophy at Brighton. His work has not gone unnoticed either, with Liverpool boss Arne Slot describing him as “one of the best managers in the world.”
Tottenham’s chances of appointing De Zerbi — or any elite-level coach — may ultimately come down to their survival bid. Staying in the Premier League could open the door to a major appointment, while relegation would almost certainly force a very different path.
