Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their club will be active in the transfer market this summer as they want to compete with their rivals for silverware next season.
Mauricio Pochettino is hoping Daniel Levy will finance a number of additions during the transfer window so his team can compete across all-competitions, but it appears that one long-term target is out of their financial reach.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the White Hart Lane outfit are prepared to end their chase for Wilfried Zaha. It has been claimed that Crystal Palace are not willing to let the Ivory Coast international leave Selhurst Park for anything less than £70million – a fee which Tottenham are understandably unwilling to pay.
There have also been concerns about the wage demands the 25-year-old might have, as he currently earns £110,000-a-week at the Eagles which puts him on par with the likes of Harry Kane at Spurs.
Landlord’s Verdict
Tottenham will need to look at other possible transfer targets this summer if they are to find a player who is capable of enabling Pochettino’s side to become more competitive next season.
The ridiculous £70 million fee being demanded is likely to scare off a number of suitors and, with a man like Daniel Levy at the helm who is known for his tough stance and negotiations, it would appear very unlikely that Zaha will be at Spurs next season.
