Liverpool fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are feeling outraged given the latest claims emerging from Metro today which claim Tottenham are set to swoop for long-term Reds target Tom Ince.
The young forward has been on the radar of Brendan Rodgers for some time now and a failed January bid has not deterred the manager who is considering another bid in the summer. Now the Metro think that Andre Villas-Boas is set to join the race for the winger in order to provide cover for the injury prone Aaron Lennon.
Lennon has been a pivotal part of the Spurs side this season but is injured just that little bit too much and now AVB wants a back up. Add to this the fact that Lennon has been linked with a move to Inter Milan and AVB is taking no chances.
Given the fact that Paul Ince claimed that his son and player is worth at least £25 million – deluded parent syndrome as one of our punters quipped – this means that Blackpool will be looking for a bidding war in the summer and will only encourage the interest from the North London side in order to ramp the price up.
