Tottenham’s 7-2 defeat at home to Bayern Munich will have been embarrassing for fans of the north London club. Indeed, their state-of-the-art new stadium was built for such occasions, yet the team on the pitch didn’t live up to the high standards of their surroundings.

Still, talkSPORT Drive took their criticism one step further. Adrian Durham claimed that Spurs didn’t only embarrass their fans on Tuesday night, but they embarrassed the whole of English football.
He said: “Spurs have embarrassed English football in a way Arsenal never did,” and “Spurs should apologise to all of us.”
He also said the performance was much more than just a lack of quality, claiming: “The players aren’t playing for him. That is a massive, massive problem.”
These strong accusations brought forward an equally strong response from the Spurs faithful, not least because Durham made comparisons with rivals Arsenal’s poor form against Bayern Munich in the past. The Gunners lost 5-1 at home and away to the Bundesliga side in the 2017 Champions League knockout phase.
