Tottenham fans are so right: Ambitious transfer swoop will not happen

Many will be expecting Tottenham Hotspur to make additions, whether it be in January or the summer transfer window next year.

It is well documented that Mauricio Pochettino’s side did not make a single signing during the previous window, although there does not seem to have been a fallout from those actions as Spurs have gone on to record their best ever start to a Premier League season.

However, rumours continue to run rife as January approaches and Tottenham have been continually linked with some of Europe’s top players.

The likes of Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt, who are both of Ajax, have both been speculated with moves to the Premier League outfit and news is starting to suggest that they have a great chance of landing the duo.

However, fans are not quite buying those rumours as of yet as many have taken to Twitter to provide their reactions to the news.

Many feel that Tottenham would not be in a position to spend the required amount to bring the duo to the club, with some believing that they would be living a dream if they were to arrive.

The current stadium situation will also be a concern as that continues to take up a large amount of finance from the club, which could likely affect the amount of money Spurs have available to spend on new players.

Daniel Levy is notorious in trying to negotiate the best possible deal he can, which has also given a number of fans the idea of a transfer happening unlikely, especially considering the pair will be wanted by a number of top clubs within Europe.

And, with how things have been going recently, you would have to feel that these Tottenham fans are right in their reactions to the news.

However, although a move for the duo remains unlikely at this stage, there should be some new faces at Spurs in January, as Pochettino will be keen to strengthen his squad for the first time in almost a year.
