The injury to Tottenham’s Ben Davies could be a huge setback for Jose Mourinho if fans’ reactions to Danny Rose’s Tuesday night performance are anything to go by.
Davies is facing ‘a long spell on the sidelines’ due to an ankle injury, per Football.London, even spotted on crutches and in a protective boot following Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Olympiakos.
The Wales international was injured during the 3-2 win over West Ham, which saw Rose play against the Greek side, and fans were fuming with the latter’s performance.
Rose has not been at his best for quite some time now – after a recording a Whoscored rating of over 7 out of 10 in four straight Premier League seasons for the club, he has scored 6.74, 6.84 and now 6.56 in the last three campaigns.
His display on Tuesday was certainly reflective of this decline, as he was partially at fault for his side falling 2-0 behind in the first half and made just one tackle in the entire match, leading to some fans slamming his display.
Nah Danny rose absolutely embarrassing

With this in mind, it is perhaps no surprise to see fans upset by the setback for Davies, as you can see in the Twitter reactions down below…
Davies injury sounds a bad one. I can’t stomach a more than one game of Danny Rose. No idea what has happened to him.

Davies injury looked fairly innocuous tho, he injured himself trying to stop Antonio’s goal. Was hoping it might have just been a slight muscle pull and he would be back in a week or two as Rose was awful last night

Sessegnon has to get some game time. Danny Rose has just become horrendous.

Rose far from good enough last night. Gutting that Davies looks like he’s going to be out for a while. Hope Vertonghen comes back in on the weekend. He would fit in well with how Mourinho wants his left-back to transition in between a back four/back three.

I love Danny Rose but he’s not the player he was a few years ago and the way Mourinho wants his left back to sit back and defend if Davies isn’t fit then Vertonghen is the better fit in the system

We need Jan to be in that left back role until we strengthen in January. With Davies injured, Rose is a calamity waiting to happen. #COYS #THFC
