It’s not hard to establish that Tottenham failed in the transfer window. Every Premier League club made at least three new signings other than Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The Lillywhites are lucky to have one of the best squads in the Premier League and don’t need massive changes, although going a whole summer with no incomings is never ideal.

Now, though, with the summer transfer window closed, it’s time to get back to business. The Premier League kicks off tonight as Manchester United host Leicester City at Old Trafford before a packed Saturday of fixtures. Tottenham fans will be lucky enough to see their side on Sky as their away trip to St James Park has been picked for television coverage and will kick off at 12:30 tomorrow.
Newcastle could be fielding up to seven new players who joined the club in the window, with the likes of Fabian Schar, Martin Dubravka, Kenedy and Salomon Rondon all expected to be thrown straight into the starting eleven to face Pochettino’s side. Meanwhile, Spurs fans won’t know whether or not they’ll have their core squad available. Most of their players rejoined training just four days ago on Monday and Poch will have a real headache over whether or not he can risk some of his stars.

Whilst most of the fans are bitterly disappointed at their summer window, they’re ready to put that behind them and focus on the Premier League, starting with Newcastle tomorrow.
