Last night was a historic night for the footballing world. After ten years of the Ballon d’Or being dominated by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have both won it five times come runners-up five times, Luka Modric won the award for his successes in 2018 with both Real Madrid and Croatia. However, these Spurs fans have refused to congratulate their former player.

Whilst the Croatian midfielder was sublime as a Lilywhite, plenty of fans are refusing to forgive the midfielder for his antics before he left the club. Before he left White Hart Lane to become a part of Los Blancos, the now 33-year-old tried to force a move to Spurs’ London rivals Chelsea, a move that went down like a lead balloon with the Spurs supporters. Because of that, a lot of fans refuse to acknowledge the midfielder in the way they should.
Not one single Tottenham fan will doubt Modric’s ability. The Croatian was capable of bossing games from midfielder from both a deeper position that he now occupies at the Santiago Bernabeu and the more advanced position that he plays for Croatia and used to play in North London. Whatever his future successes, it’s unlikely that the Lilywhites will ever give Modric the credit he deserves for the way he left, and they don’t believe he was worthy of the Ballon d’Or given the fact that Messi and Ronaldo are still at large.

He wasn't even best player at Madrid last year

Just because they can’t give it to Messi or Ronaldo they just draw names and whoever’s name is selected gets the Ballon d’or and Modric was the lucky one!

The Lilywhites aren’t happy to see Modric win the award and will hope that next year sees the likes of Messi or Ronaldo return to winning ways.
