For a lot of Tottenham fans, Andre Villas-Boas time at the club wasn’t all bad. The Portuguese gaffer, in his first season, recorded the club’s ever highest Premier League points tally up to the point, although that’s since been smashed by Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham. However, AVB has come out and blamed the Tottenham board for his failures, and the fans have been quick to slate him.

The Villas-Boas days feel like a lifetime ago at Tottenham. However, that season with Gareth Bale on top form was all under the ex-Chelsea man. There’s still controversy over the summer window that followed after that season, in which Bale was sold and seven new players were brought in. The ex-manager has claimed that he gave a list of names to the club and was ignored before they went ahead and signed over half a dozen players and ‘destroyed everything’.
If you were to give The Lilywhites the option, there’s no way any of them would swap Pochettino for Villas-Boas, but that’s not to say that at the time, AVB wasn’t going a good job. The squad under the Portuguese tactician was thin and lacked real depth, but that’s no excuse. Eventually, AVB was sacked after a 5-0 home thrashing at the hands of Liverpool and from there the job went to Tim Sherwood before Pochettino, it’s been a waiting game for Tottenham, but they’re finally getting there.
You can read The Lilywhites’ verdict on AVB’s comments here:
To be fair he was ok. But the job Poch has done (with the same board) just goes to show the different level Poch operates on.

AVB wasted 100m bar Eriksen and lamela is now starting to show some quality to be fair. Bale paved over the cracks that were slowly forming

Tottenham fans have moved on from Villas-Boas and it’s about time that he moves on from his time at Tottenham.
