Tottenham have offered Christian Eriksen a new four-year contract worth €7.5m (£6.6m) a year, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.
The Danish playmaker’s current deal expires next summer and Spurs are desperate to tie him into a new long-term contract. Should they fail to do so, and he remains a Tottenham player after January’s transfer window closes, the north Londoners will lose him for free at the end of this season.
Heavy links with Real Madrid and Manchester United dominated the newspaper back pages this summer.
Los Blancos failed to submit an offer for him, though, while it is understood that the 27-year-old wasn’t keen on a switch to Old Trafford, instead preferring a move abroad, something raised by Diario Madridista (via FourFourTwo).
That apparently remains the case, with Juventus – the club famous for picking up players on Bosman deals – another side expected to try and prise the midfielder away in ten months’ time should he reject Spurs’ new contract offer.
Here’s how fans reacted to the news on Twitter:
£130k a week is appalling when you consider the average wages in the PL nowadays and when you want to tie him down to a contract and not lose the transfer fee when he moves on.

They are really low balling him. No wonder he hasn’t signed it.

Eriksen, sign the deal please

Good luck in the future eriksen!

If that’s true, that’s a pathetic offer. Deserves double that. He’s leaving Tottenham come either January or next summer. He will pick up at least £250k a week at PSG or Juventus. It’s a joke how we don’t pay our players. Maybe some big names leaving might make Levy see sense…

He’d be mad to sign that.. he could pick up double that in wages + 20-25m signing fee
