Tottenham currently sit 9th in the Premier League having endured a mixed start to their season. An opening day win over Aston Villa – courtesy of two late goals from Harry Kane – was proceeded by a hard-fought draw against Manchester City, before things came crashing down with an abysmal performance against Newcastle a fortnight ago.
Spurs were beaten 1-0 on home soil by a Newcastle outfit orchestrated by Steve Bruce, and then threw away a two-goal lead against fierce rivals Arsenal a week later, drawing 2-2 with the Gunners in yet another entertaining north London derby battle at the Emirates.
The international break has seemingly come at the perfect time for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, as they contend with a lengthy list of injuries to some of their key players. Kyle Walker-Peters missed Sunday’s clash against Arsenal with a hamstring complaint, while record signing Tanguy Ndombele has been sidelined for the club’s last two games with a thigh injury he picked up in training.
Eric Dier, Juan Foyth and new signing Ryan Sessegnon are all also currently out with respective injuries. However, they are all – barring Foyth – expected to return to action after the international break, according to @PremierInjuries (via @Daily_Hotspur) on Twitter, and it’s safe to say that the Tottenham faithful are delighted with that news.
