Tottenham fans have had to wait a little bit longer than was first expected for their debut in the new stadium in North London. The initial date of the home tie with Liverpool back in September was set for the grand opening. However, the Spurs players are still excited for it, with Harry Kane hoping it will be ‘The Anfield of the South’.

These comments from Kane have provoked a bit of a response from some Tottenham fans, who believe that Harry Kane has fallen for the ‘Anfield myth’ that the atmosphere is better there. The famous Anfield nights are always European nights and the fact that they have the Kop stand, a single-tier wall of Liverpool fans, behind one goal makes it especially daunting for travelling supporters.
In the Spurs New Stadium, though, they’ve gone above and beyond to try and mirror that feeling whilst keeping the authentic feel that White Hart Lane had. A 17,000 seater sing;e-tier stand is at one end of the ground and the White wall of Tottenham fans will be a spectacle to see when it’s opened. However, the fans believe that aiming to match Anfield isn’t enough, and they’re keen to eclipse the famous Merseyside ground’s atmosphere with a roar of their own.

The Lilywhites will be hoping their ground can be twice that of Anfield and will be desperate to make some memories at their new home as they had at the old one.
