Tottenham fans have been crying out for some attacking reinforcements this window. Their squad was already looking thin before they lost Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to injury and international duty, although Son is now back, so to hear the news in The Sun that Mauricio Pochettino turned down the chance to sign Malcom is a real shock.

Pochettino isn’t against signing Brazilian wingers in January and it was exactly 12 months ago when they splashed out to bring in PSG winger Lucas Moura. However, it doesn’t look like they’ll be doing anything like that today, as Malcom is now off the cards after not being given the go-ahead by Pochettino, who was able to call on both Erik Lamela and Lucas from the bench yesterday as they beat Watford 2-1.
A lot of media outlets have made out as if Tottenham Hotspur are in some sort of crisis with injuries and their current squad depth. However, four of the top six dropped points in midweek Premier League action whilst Pochettino’s side turned a 1-0 deficit around to claim all three points at Wembley, and you can see why Pochettino is keen to keep things as they are, even if it means snubbing a top-class player.

The Lilywhites aren’t best pleased to see that they won’t be moving for Malcom and a lot of the fans would have jumped at the chance to sign the talented young Brazilian.
