Tottenham fans have had it tough in the transfer market recently, but that’s only because they have gone over a year since they signed a player, and even when they did sign players they usually got it wrong. One of those awful decisions saw Kyle Walker replaced by Serge Aurier, and having seen Ricardo Pereira star yesterday for Leicester they weren’t happy that they didn’t swoop for him.

The Lilywhites have had it really hard with right-backs. Kieran Trippier has been woeful this season and Aurier is an absolute shambles when he plays. Both of them have an ineptitude defensively, and when Spurs fans watched Leicester smash Arsenal yesterday Ricardo Pereira was one of the stars, and they were in shock that they’d somehow ended up with Aurier over the Portuguese defender.
Indeed, the Foxes ace was linked with a move to Spurs back in 2017 by Sky Sports.
This summer will likely see a lot of new players coming into North London and a new right-back is a massive necessity. Whether or not Pereira would be on the cards as a summer signing is yet to be seen, but Tottenham fans would absolutely love to see the Foxes’ star come in. Either way, as long as Aurier isn’t in the squad next season they’ll be happy.
You can read the Lilywhites’ verdict on Aurier and Pereira here:
He’s so ideally suited to us, isn’t he? Wonder how much we’d have to pay for him now? Might still be worth it.

I would like to see us sell both Aurier & Trippier to finance a deal for Wan-Bissaka & retain KWP as our RB options however I fear KWP is out of favour.

My only thought was that Serge gave us extra cover at CB and Periera was too similar to KWP. Still a bad decision

Choosing to pay for Serge Aurier has got to be one of the dumbest decisions we’ve made in the transfer market in the past decade.

What would Ricardo Pereira have cost with third party ownership and all? He looks a terrific player, as do several at Leicester. Always thought Ndidi would suit us rather well too.

Aurier always felt like a really weird signing for Spurs, if not just for his off-field behaviour. Pereira has been fantastic this season.

A lot of the Lilywhites would love to sign Pereira and would have done anything to bring in the Leicester man instead of Aurier when they did.
