Yesterday may have been a woeful day for the Lilywhites, but at least they can all agree that Dele Alli’s return was a huge boost. The England midfielder stepped up and shone in midfield and every time he got the ball things looked like opening up before they eventually did when the 22-year-old setup Harry Kane for the opener.

Whilst Spurs would do what they’ve done on a handful of occasions this season and let that lead slip before falling to a defeat, the return of Dele is still a huge boost. The next game that Tottenham face in the Premier League comes against Liverpool at Anfield, and whilst it certainly isn’t a game that the fans are going to be confident for, having Dele gives them a chance.
The fans all knew that on his first return after an eight-game absence that Dele was never going to ste[p in and play the full 90 minutes, however, the 82 minutes that he lasted were certainly more than expected in what proved to be a tough game on the Southcoast. The Lilywhites now have a three-week break until their next game and it should give Dele a chance to get back to full sharpness, where the fans will be desperate for him to star on Merseyside.
