Tottenham fans take to Twitter to slam reports linking them with Maddison

Tottenham fans on Twitter have all been reacting to one thing this morning, as the news has broken in The Times that Tottenham, if they lose Christian Eriksen, could be set to swoop for James Maddison in a deal that could cost up to £60 million.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been on Spurs’ radar for a very long time. The article in The Times claims that Tottenham have been watching the player since he first started out at Coventry, although they weren’t willing to pay the £7 million asking price that Coventry were demanding. In the end, Maddison joined Norwich for £3 million before eventually making the step to the Premier League last season.

That step up to the top flight cost Leicester City £22 million and so far the Englishman has done a good job. Whether or not he’s ready to jump from a club like Leicester City to a top-six club in Tottenham where the demands of the Champions League brings added pressure though and it’s yet to be seen whether or not he’s ready for that kind of jump, especially seeing as he’d be the man used to replace the goals and assists of the sublime Christian Eriksen.

The Lilywhites hate the idea of going from Eriksen to Maddison, although they wouldn’t be against bringing in Maddison alongside their Danish magician.
