Crystal Palace ensured that the 4th week of 2019 was the worst one so far for Tottenham fans when they knocked the Lilywhites out of their 2nd tournament in four days with a 2-0 win at Selhurst Park. However, the Spurs fans were raging at Mauricio Pochettino after the defeat for his decision to leave Christian Eriksen out of the squad.
Understand due to the amount of games coming and injuries we’ve had you might not want to risk starting Eriksen.
However it is baffling when already missing Kane, Alli & Son, you don’t at least have him as an option from the bench, most creative player in our squad.#THFC #COYS

Without the Danish creator roaming around behind the likes of Lucas Moura and Fernando Llorente is was clear that the makeshift Tottenham side was going to fail to make anything happen. Whilst they may have had some golden chances throughout the clash, things could have been so different if they had the creative nouse of Eriksen and his ability to pull a goal out of thin air.
Whilst Eriksen’s absence has certainly irked plenty of fans, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. The 26-year-old former Ajax man has been heavily involved over the last couple of months and has barely missed a game, so finding an opportunity to rest him and give him some valuable R&R ahead of their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund was always going to be in Poch’s mind, even if it has left the Lilywhites seething.

Why does MP just sit and watch like oh another defeat. He should be motivating and going mental on the touchline (yes it may not work, but least its something)

This for me was the difference in the match…and unfortunately it’s on #Pochettino

Poch doesn’t respect the fa cup in my opinion. He even eludes to it when asked about it. It’s the one thing that annoys me about poch

The Lilywhites will never really understand Poch’s decision to leave out Eriksen, however, they’re keen to move on from the loss and will hope for a bounce-back against Watford on Wednesday.
