Tottenham Hotspur: Daniel Levy in ‘ongoing’ preliminary talks for Christian Eriksen

According to an update by freelance journalist Marc Benamram, Tottenham Hotspur and Daniel Levy are currently in ‘ongoing’ preliminary talks to bring former star Christian Eriksen back to north London – but club hierarchy are ‘still split’ on any possible deal due to ‘varying factors’ (Twitter).

Eriksen update emerges

Eriksen has been strongly linked with a move back to Spurs since Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta publicly placed him on the transfer list, with Fabrizio Romano recently claiming the Dane would love a move back to the Premier League, and Tottenham in particular (Sky Sports).

The transfer guru also said Spurs will ‘try’ to sign Eriksen in the ‘coming days’ (Sky Sports) – but Benamram has gone one step further by claiming that the Lilywhites are already in ‘ongoing’ preliminary talks for the attacking midfielder.

However, despite this development potentially intriguing supporters, he also suggests some of the decision makers at Spurs are currently split on completing a deal for him due to ‘varying factors’ – with the journalist remaining vague on detail.

Transfer Tavern take

He also reports, in tandem with Romano, that Eriksen would like to return to Spurs – but with just under two weeks remaining of the transfer window, time may be running out to get a deal done.

Speaking to Football Insider before the beginning of the transfer window, Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson made his feelings known on Eriksen potentially re-joining Spurs – with the former shot-stopper branding his would-be signing as ‘ridiculous‘ taking into account the way he left and his lack of game time recently.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the next week, but it will certainly be interesting.
