A number of Tottenham Hotspur supporters have voiced their apprehension toward a win-filled run being inbound, after Spurs succumbed to defeat away to Leicester City at the weekend.
Brendan Rodger’s Leicester retained the spoils on home soil thanks to Ricardo Pereira levelling proceedings in the 69th minute, after a stumbling Harry Kane put the visitors ahead in the 29th minute.
James Maddison later struck the would-be winning goal, with what was his fourth shot of the afternoon, and his 20th of the league season, according to WhoScored data.
The result at the King Power Stadium left Mauricio Pochettino’s North Londoners seventh in the Premier League table and three points behind the Foxes, who moved into third thanks to their 2-1 win placing them ahead of Arsenal and West Ham United solely on goal difference.
Spurs host Southampton next in the top-flight, before a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion and the visit of Watford to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Losing at home to the Saints would place Ralph Hasenhuttl’s St Mary’s Stadium natives above Pochettino’s men, along with Tottenham slipping further away from the top-four places.
Pochettino’s side also have a Carabao Cup trip to Colchester United to contend with on Tuesday night, and begin their Champions League campaign at home to the reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in between league encounters with Southampton and Brighton.
Colchester head into the EFL Cup clash having won their last two League Two fixtures, and four of their last six across all competitions.
