Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been calling for Mauricio Pochettino to include Eric Dier more often this season, with many of them feeling he is what they are missing at the back.

Having witnessed Spurs fall to a humiliating 7-2 defeat at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, many of the faithful on Twitter have urged the Argentine to give the England international a go moving forward.
The manager appears to be reluctant at this moment in time to give Dier his opportunity, though, as the 25-year-old has made just two appearances so far this season (with only one of those coming in Premier League action and that was off the bench).
Defence clearly looks to be an area of concern at the moment, as Spurs have been able to keep only two clean sheets in their first 10 games this season (TransferMarkt), and the defensive midfielder certainly has the ability to make tackles when needed.
According to data collected by WhoScored for last season’s Premier League campaign, Dier managed to achieve an average of 1.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 2.1 clearances in his 20 appearances, while also contributing with three goals.

People criticised Dier, and I know his game has flaws but the good parts of his game is almost exactly what we are missing.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but when Dier plays he is a natural leader on the pitch, and that was something we were missing last night. Yet if he had played you would had all blamed him for the loss. Genuinely hope he plays on Saturday.
