Son Heung-min was named as Tottenham Hotspur’s official Man of the Match for his performance in their FA Cup fourth-round replay victory against Southampton on Wednesday.
The South Korean forward certainly had a major impact on the game, indeed he was brought down for a penalty by Angus Gunn in the dying embers before getting up to convert what was the winning goal from the spot (BBC Sport).
Added to that, he also played three key passes, completed two crosses, completed one successful dribble and won five ground duels in the 90 minutes (SofaScore). However, despite the stats suggesting that Son played very well, some supporters feel that the award should have been given to Dele Alli.
The England international didn’t start the game, but certainly made an impact when he was brought on by Jose Mourinho in the 61st minute. Indeed, he provided the assist for Lucas Moura’s goal and he also had a major involvement in Son’s winner, playing a delightful pass which opened the Saints up and put the 27-year-old through on goal (BT Sport).

Because of Alli’s involvement in two goals, it seems that plenty of Spurs fans think that he should have been the player named Man of the Match by the club instead of Son. Here is what some had to say on Twitter…

Dele was far better. Winksy was second only to Dele. Gedson played well. Sonny didn’t play well. He is my favourite player and one of our best players but he did not deserve to be MOTM.
