Some Tottenham Hotspur fans are fuming as news emerged from Football Insider (via Ricky Sacks) that the north London club are ready to perform a U-turn and re-open negotiations with Eric Dier over a new contract.
The Lilywhites were prepared to listen to offers, however Jose Mourinho is planning to give the 26-year old a chance to make the centre-back position his own.

Indeed, Dier has played as a central defender before under the Portuguese coach, making five appearances in that position, according to Transfermarkt. He was also played there more regularly during his time with Sporting Lisbon, making 11 appearances as a centre-back for the senior side, as per the website.
The English international signed a deal for five years worth nearly a reported £70,000 a week back in 2016, but as we are now in 2020 time is running out before he could potentially leave on a free transfer.
