Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has returned to first-team training, the club have confirmed (@SpursOfficial).
The French international has not featured for Spurs since picking up a nasty elbow injury against Brighton & Hove Albion on 5th October (Transfermarkt) and it is fair to say that they have missed the 33-year-old’s presence between the sticks.
Paulo Gazzaniga has replaced Lloris during his absence, starting in all 20 games that the former Lyon man has missed through injury. However, in that time Tottenham have really struggled defensively and the Argentinian has managed to keep just three clean sheets in that time, two of which came against Serbian outfit Red Star (Transfermarkt).
As a result, plenty of Spurs fans are delighted to see that Lloris is now nearing a return and they will hope that he can add more calmness and stability to the team defensively. He is, after all, a hugely experienced shot-stopper who of course captained France to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, so his comeback could be massive for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Here is what some fans had to say following the injury update on Twitter…
