Tottenham Hotspur have taken concrete steps towards signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the January transfer window, that is according to a report from Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport via Ricky Sacks.
However, it is thought that the Italian champions do not want to lose the 24-year-old without being able to bring in a replacement for him.
The Frenchman only joined the Serie A outfit in the summer, signing from Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer.
But he has struggled for minutes in Turin and has only started six games in the league and just two in the Champions League (Transfermarkt).
Spurs are thought to be on the lookout for a new central midfielder this month after Moussa Sissoko was ruled out until at least April with injury (tottenhamhotspur.com).
Rabiot would fill that void and he is a player who could give them more control in the middle of the park, indeed he has an average passing accuracy of 91% this season whilst he also has defensive ability and averages 2.1 tackles per game (SofaScore).
However, despite this it seems that lots of Spurs fans wouldn’t be too keen on signing the French international, with some pointing to his attitude as a reason why – last year he claimed that Tottenham were below his level when linked with a move (ESPN).
