Tottenham Hotspur are planning to sell midfielder Eric Dier in the summer transfer window if he fails to sign a new deal with the club, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
It is suggested that the 26-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2021, is reluctant to agree to fresh terms at Spurs due to his lack of game time under Jose Mourinho.
Daniel Levy is keen to avoid a situation like they have recently had with Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld whereby they allow a player to enter his last 12 months of his contract -which would mean that, if he doesn’t sign a new contract, they will allow him to leave at the end of this campaign.
Dier is believed to want assurances that he will become a more prominent figure in the team and it is also thought that he would like to play at centre-back rather than in midfield. However, having not started a single Premier League game since their game against Chelsea on December 22nd (Transfermarkt), he is not currently one of Mourinho’s regulars.
