Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to potential Jose Mourinho bonus

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho will earn a £2 million bonus if he manages to guide his team to Champions League qualification this season, that is according to a report from the Daily Mail.

When the Portuguese took over it looked a tall order to secure a place in Europe’s elite competition for next term, as Spurs had fallen 11 points behind the top four under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino. That gap has closed a little since then and they are now nine points adrift of their London rivals Chelsea (BBC Sport).

It would be a fantastic achievement if Mourinho did guide his new team to a top four finish, especially when you consider the number of injuries he has had to contend with. Indeed, several of his players have struggled with problems of late, most notably Harry Kane who has been ruled out until at least April with a hamstring injury (tottenhamhotspur.com).

An exceptional run of form will, therefore, be required to qualify for the Champions League but if they do so, Mourinho will have earned his bonus as owner Daniel Levy has shown just how important it is for the club by offering his manager the financial incentive in the first place.

However, quite a few fans are sceptical that Mourinho will be picking up an extra £2 million in his pay packet as they are not confident at all that they will finish in the top four. Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…
