Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that star striker Harry Kane will need to undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his right hamstring (tottenhamhotspur.com).
The 26-year-old suffered the injury in Spurs’ New Year’s Day defeat against Southampton at St Mary’s and specialists have advised that the surgery is needed. It means that the hitman is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with the club suggesting that he will return to training in April.
This is certainly a huge blow for Spurs. For a start, he is their leading goalscorer this season having netted 11 times in 20 Premier League appearances this term (Transfermarkt). Added to that, he is the only senior out and out striker that the club have, with 17-year-old Troy Parrott the only other one but it may be too early to throw him in.
They must, therefore, decide whether to bring a new striker in, or move either Lucas Moura or Son Heung-min more centrally to fill the void, as the latter did last season under Mauricio Pochettino. Whilst plenty of fans are gutted about Kane’s injury, quite a few were actually taking aim at owner Daniel Levy on Twitter.
They blame him for never signing a back-up striker to Kane, which has meant he has had to play every game which may have contributed to his body breaking down.
Here is what some had to say…
And levy thinks that jose can land 4th and a trophy…. heads up Danny boy, jose is a great manager, but sadly not a miracle worker!!! You let our managers and fans down….you are a disgrace, probably the worst chairman in our history!

Disaster. Season over. Sort it out and fork out like a true club Levy. This is not going to get any better. No doubt it’s easy to blame Mourinho, prob why you got him in, but on the pitch(unlike of it) this has been a problem of your making!!!!♂️

This club is a laughing stock. We’re virtually imploding and Levy appears to be sitting back oblivious to it. Absolute disgrace.

Dear Sir don Daniel Levy, please sign a proper back up striker so that we don’t run our best striker into his own grave
— Ben (@b3nnychats) January 9, 2020
This is what happens when you have another striker to rotate in…Levy’s fault. Kane has been overplayed and the injuries will keep happening unfortunately.

This is what happened when you over play players and don’t invest in a quality SQUAD!!!
— Tarl (@T_LO_7) January 9, 2020
That’s what happens when you have 1 striker and flog him. I look forward to the club propaganda about how we’ll be fine without him, and we have lots of opinions up front. Sick of spending a fortune to watch this club try and do it on the cheap.

And now watch our wonderful owners do absolutely nothing about it over the next 3 weeks!
They’ve never cared about the football side of the business so why would they change now ♂️

DANIEL LEVY HAS RUINED THIS CLUB

Spurs fans, do you need to sign a new striker now that Harry Kane has been ruled out until April? If so, who would you like? Let us know in the comments below…
