Tottenham Hotspur: Fans slate Eric Dier’s performance against Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur produced an extremely disappointing display against Chelsea on Sunday as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against their London rivals.

Frank Lampard’s side were far better on the afternoon and a couple of goals from Willian ensured that they went back to Stamford Bridge with all three points.

Almost all of Spurs’ players didn’t play well in the game, but one who has been criticised heavily on social media is midfielder Eric Dier.

The England international really struggled in truth. Indeed he won neither of his ground or aerial duels, lost possession on six occasions and only 78% of his 18 attempted passes were accurate (SofaScore).

As a result of his poor performance, the 25-year-old was brought off by Jose Mourinho at half-time and replaced by Christian Eriksen (BBC Sport).

Plenty of Spurs fans were left very disappointed with how Dier played against Chelsea and many of them took to Twitter to criticise him.

Can’t argue with that. I’d add that we really miss lloris. Feb can’t come soon enough. Dier needs to be dropped too. Shocking that he keeps starting.

Surely Dier is finished at Spurs now? I know he’s had a bad health problem but that’s the second time he’s been pulled in a few weeks. He needs a fresh start.
