Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are licking their lips this evening and it’s not just because of our chef’s new house special.
The Daily Express states Tottenham are set to sign Sofiane Boufal from Lille for £21.6m, after being given the green-light to secure the lucrative arrival.
However, there’s one potential stumbling block in the deal as Lille are only prepared to accept a transfer in January if Boufal is loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the remainder of the season; meaning Mauricio Pochettino would fork-out a hefty sum for a player they’re unable to use this term.
With Spurs currently looking a bit-short in their race to secure a spot in the top four, which comes alongside an illustrious spot in the Champions League, Pochettino is more likely to target players he can use immediately.
Supporters of the club at the bar believe there’s a very simple way around this, stating that if Spurs really want to sign Boufal they should up their offer in January to remove Lille’s demands of a loan return- but that could prove to be expensive.
Tottenham fans, is this a deal you should pursue or put on-hold until the end of the season? Let us know in the comments below!
