According to an update by reliable Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham have opened talks to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar as the club eye a new central defender – but the Serie A giants have placed a whopping £55 million price tag on his head.
Indeed, as per recent reports, Spurs are after two new signings before the transfer window closes on October 5 – with a striker and centre-back being prioritised by Daniel Levy and co as the 2020/2021 Premier League seasons gets underway.

Club legend and fan favourite Jan Vertonghen left Spurs on a free transfer this summer and signed for Benfica, with Tottenham being left short in the middle as a result – having to deploy midfielder Eric Dier in the Belgian’s stead.
The ever-rotating pair of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld alongside the Englishman don’t appear to satisfy manager Jose Mourinho as he eyes Champions League qualification, resulting in the club turning to a potential solution in the market.
Enter Skriniar, who was once at the centre of whispers linking him with a move to Spurs in a potential Tanguy Ndombele swap deal.
A transfer of that nature, however, has since been ruled out – with Tottenham now working to lower the Slovakian’s £55m valuation in a straight bid.

Averaging a 92% pass accuracy out from the back last campaign, Skriniar also stands at a towering 6ft 2.
The defender’s exploits in Serie A have even warranted praise from ex-Nerazzurri captain Giuseppe Bergomi, who lauded him as ‘incredible‘ alongside Joao Miranda back in 2017.
If Tottenham do manage to get a deal done, it’s safe to say that Levy will have pulled off another brilliant summer coup.
