Tottenham Hotspur: Journalist drops behind the scenes Christian Eriksen claim

Dropping a behind the scenes claim, Italian journalist Luca Serafini has revealed the truth behind Christian Eriksen and his departure from Tottenham amid reports they’re plotting a sensational return.

Eriksen, who has been short of game time since departing north London, could now leave Inter Milan in January just a year after he put pen to paper on a deal at the San Siro.

Football Insider reported last week that Spurs had been offered a chance to re-sign Eriksen, with Daniel Levy and co reportedly considering that option as links to their former hero heat up.

Eriksen reveal

Amidst these updates, journalist Serafini has dropped a behind the scenes claim surrounding the Dane’s departure from Tottenham – going on to state that Jose Mourinho allowed him to leave because the manager felt he was declining.

“Christian Eriksen? The suspicion is that the last year, and the period with José Mourinho at Tottenham, had a precise foundation. That’s why Tottenham got rid. Evidently it was at the end of the race,” explained Serafini to Sport Italia Mercato via Inter News.

Transfer Tavern take

Whether or not this inside take could be an indication that Tottenham will not bring him back remains to be seen, but Levy has the chance to complete another reunion akin to Gareth Bale as per recent reports.

This revelation that Mourinho shipped Eriksen out of Spurs because of a potential decline could certainly be interesting to Lilywhites supporters, especially considering the excitement around bringing him back.
