According to Alasdair Gold’s information, Tottenham offered young defender Juan Foyth in a bid to lower the asking price for summer target Milan Skriniar.

Skriniar was reportedly at the top of Jose Mourinho’s defensive wish list and ‘very keen‘ on a Tottenham move, with the club and Inter Milan miles apart in terms of negotiation.
Chief scout Steve Hitchen was sent to Italy in an effort to meet half way over a deal, but the Serie A giants refused to budge on their lofty £45 million asking price.
As a result, talks eventually broke down – with Spurs now having to wait if they wish to do a deal in January.
Gold, writing an in-depth transfer piece for Football.London, has now revealed that Levy attempted to offer current Villarreal loanee Juan Foyth in an effort to lower the costs.
The 6 ft 2 youngster, given an option to sign permanently in La Liga by the end of this season for £13.5 million, could have been on his way to the San Siro for a fee plus swap deal.
Gold claims that Inter were not interested, even despite Foyth’s potential and past praise from ex-Lilywhites fan favourite Mauricio Pochettino.
The ex-Spurs boss called him ‘quality‘ last season, but regardless, the Nerazzurri wanted their £45m.
It remains to be seen whether Levy comes back in two months with a similar offer, but anything is possible in the transfer market, and a swap deal could be a good idea to make a move financially viable.
