A recent article from French outlet RMC Sport has issued an update on Dele Alli’s potential departure from Tottenham Hotspur, amid reports linking him with a reunion with former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain.

Alli has not been enjoying a very positive 2020/21 campaign, with the 24-year-old appearing in just four of Spurs’ first 16 games of the Premier League season, earning the lowest average overall rating (6.11) of any Tottenham player in the league this term from those four appearances, per WhoScored.

Potential movement on Alli’s Tottenham Hotspur departure

With that in mind, it may not come as a big surprise that the Englishman has been linked with a January move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

PSG were said to be interested in signing the Tottenham attacking midfielder during the summer transfer window but a move ultimately never materialised.

Now, however, Pochettino’s return to management at Le Parc des Princes has reignited talk of the £34.2m-rated man joining Les Parisiens.

Per RMC Sport, dissimilar to how negotiations unfolded back in the summer, talks are said to be ‘moving in the right direction’ over a move for Alli to Paris at present, with ‘a positive outcome’ being envisaged by the clubs involved in this deal ‘for the first time.’

Is Daniel Levy loosening his grip on Alli?

During the summer window, it was explained that Daniel Levy wouldn’t allow Alli to leave the north London club on the cheap, with the Spurs chairman favouring a loan move for the attacking midfielder if he were to depart. Meanwhile, it’s explained by RMC Sport that Levy’s desire has been to retain the services of the 24-year-old, despite his poor season so far.

While it’s stated by RMC Sport that ‘it’s too early to say’ that Levy is going to change his mind and allow Alli to leave, the fact that the French publication has claimed that talks are moving in the right direction for a deal to be completed and that a positive outcome is envisaged by all parties surely indicates that Levy is beginning to come around to the idea of parting ways with Alli. It will be interesting to see if that proves to be the case as we move deeper into the January transfer window.
