Football.London correspondent Alasdair Gold has tweeted that Jose Mourinho’s newest update over a fresh deal for Son Heung-min ‘will make Spurs fans very happy‘, with the Tottenham manager suggesting the forward wants to put pen to paper.
Who should be awarded a new deal after Son?
The 28-year-old, who has been a mainstay for Tottenham over the last few seasons and largely dubbed one of the most ‘underrated‘ stars in the Premier League, currently earns way below the likes of Gareth Bale, Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele.
Son set for new deal
Indeed, he has struck up a fine partnership with fellow Tottenham star Kane, but takes home far less in terms of salary, with the club now set to change that by offering a reported £200,000 per week plus ‘performance-related’ bonuses.
Speaking in his press conference, as relayed by Gold, Mourinho has strongly hinted that Son would ‘love‘ to sign a new deal in north London – potentially great reason for Lilywhites to become excited.
Brand new Jose Mourinho quotes about a new contract for Son which will make Spurs fans very happy. He was also asked if Son can be considered world class and seemed to take a swipe at someone else at the same time. He also spoke about more Spurs transfers. https://t.co/Gr063cv8s1

Transfer Tavern take
Lauded as ‘unplayable‘ by ex-Spurs midfielder Michael Brown, the pundit also suggested that clubs will be ‘fully aware’ of Son’s contract situation, giving Tottenham good reason to try and tie the player down.
When Spurs will get the deal done remains to be seen, but given the attacker’s importance, it could be made an absolute priority.
