Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, Spurs legend Gary Mabbutt has heaped praise on the ‘incredible’ Gareth Bale after chairman Daniel Levy opted to re-sign the fan favourite on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.
Bale, who returned to Spurs in a headline-grabbing swoop over the summer, becoming their fifth summer signing in what was an illustrious transfer window, has so far been adjusting to life back in the Premier League.
Slowly returning to full fitness, the Wales international has already scored his first goal since coming back to north London – heading home a sumptuous winner against Brighton during a 2-1 home win.
Mabbutt approves of Bale signing
Mabbutt, who made 629 appearances for the Lilywhites in all competitions throughout a 16-year spell (SoccerBase), sporting the Spurs jersey from 1982-1998, has waxed lyrical over the ‘incredible’ attacker whilst hinting big things could be on the horizon.
“You’re going to be adding an incredible player to the talents we already have,” explained Mabbutt to The Transfer Tavern.
“I just feel that, you know, things are starting to fall into place for us, we’ve got a very strong, strong squad of players who have got a great attitude in the dressing room.
“We’ve got very strong management team. And overall, I think things are just starting to fall into place.”
Transfer Tavern take
Previously described as a ‘superb signing for Tottenham‘ by fellow pundit Danny Mills to Football Insider, Bale’s addition has certainly made Spurs a stronger outfit.
After Levy opted to bring Bale back to Spurs, Mabbutt has now given his seal of approval over the piece of business – and time will tell whether things do indeed fall perfectly into place.
