Speaking to Football Insider, pundit and BT Sport pundit Alan Hutton has been left shocked by a Dele Alli development at Spurs – with the same outlet recently reporting that Daniel Levy is weighing up a half price £25 million summer exit for the Englishman this summer.
As reported by Football Insider, Levy originally wanted around £45 million if any permanent deal was to be done in January, but will now settle for around £25m ahead of the summer window.
Hutton wowed by Alli development
In response, former Spurs star Hutton has been left wowed by the development and can’t believe the price tag – especially when taking into account his homegrown status, age and performances in the past.
“I’m actually quite surprised that you’ve said £25million. I thought you were going to say £50million,” explained Hutton.
“That’s what I was thinking, even in January. I was thinking he’s so young, we know how talented he is, he’s having a blip.
“It’s probably about him suiting a team and a manager that can get the best out of him.
“Not necessarily this tough love but maybe an arm around him, helping him through the situation he’s in.
“I just thought, you know what it’s like; young, English, maybe £40million, £45million, round about there. For you to say £25million, oof.”
Transfer Tavern take
Described as an ‘outstanding player’ recently by Sky pundit Gary Neville (via the Focus), Alli also has 37 caps at international level and has played 165 times in the Premier League – scoring 50 goals and assisting 36 others (Transfermarkt).
Taking this into account, it could indeed come as a shock that Levy is willing to offload the 24-year-old for a meagre £25m.
