Writing for football.london and reporting on Tottenham youngster Oliver Skipp, Lilywhites correspondent Alasdair Gold has stated that ‘those within‘ Spurs believe the youngster is showing ‘exactly’ what they expected.
Gold, in this article, also claims that manager Jose Mourinho has ‘high hopes‘ for the defensive midfielder – with the Portuguese having already come out to the press and admitting he would have loved to take Skipp back from his loan (football.london).
Skipp impressing Tottenham
The 20-year-old has been in dazzling form for the Canaries since going out on a temporary spell in the summer, starting 33 Championship matches this season and averaging a solid two tackles per 90 minutes (WhoScored).
In this piece, Gold details that Skipp is impressing Tottenham whilst showing ‘exactly what they expected him to’ – coming over two years after he made his full Premier League debut against Burnley during the 2018/2019 season.
The Lilywhites boss has previously labelled him ‘phenomenal‘ after impressing against his loan club, with Gold’s update lifting the lid on how he has expectations for the starlet whilst earning applause from those within Tottenham.
Transfer Tavern take
Skipp, in future seasons, has the potential to be an alternative option for summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the middle and could also play alongside him.
In theory, Gold believes this would allow Tanguy Ndombele to play further forward – but only time will tell what Mourinho’s big plans are for the Englishman.
