Writing for the Guardian, journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has dropped a huge update on contract talks for Spurs star Son Heung-min – going on to claim that negotiations are now set to start.
Son, who has been tipped by the press to sign a bumper new mega-deal over the last month, is now officially set to begin talks over a new contract according to this latest Romano update.
Should Spurs offer Son a new mega deal?
Son could sign new deal
The South Korea star is currently partnering star striker Harry Kane to devastating effect this season, but he remains on a £140,000-per-week deal – which is far less when compared to his teammate and some other Spurs mainstays.
Gareth Bale and Tanguy Ndombele are also on more than the winger, but chairman Daniel Levy and co look set to offer Son a new deal which would make him one of the club’s top earners alongside these star men.
Now, after weeks of reports, Romano claims that Spurs and Son are set to sit down and complete a deal in the near future – with this update coming just weeks after pundit Paul Robinson explained how an offer for the player would be ‘amazing news for Spurs‘.
Transfer Tavern take
After this huge update, it’s safe to say that Tottenham fans can now start getting excited, especially when clubs could be sniffing around for a player like Son in the looming transfer window.
By tying down the attacker, Levy and co can move one step closer to ensuring that he remains in north London for a long time so he can continue to be devastating.
