Tottenham Hotspur: Jose Mourinho tipped for ‘conundrum’ over Gareth Bale

Tottenham Hotspur: Jose Mourinho tipped for ‘conundrum’ over Gareth Bale - Tottenham Hotspur News

Speaking to HorseRacing.net, via football.london, Sky Sports regular Paul Robinson has tipped a ‘conundrum’ for Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho over Gareth Bale – with the Welshman theorised to be ‘knocking on the door’ and ‘ready to start’ as the Lilywhites gear up for a congested fixture calendar.

Bale, who has reportedly wowed Mourinho in training since his arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan from Real Madrid, has been very rarely utilised in the Premier League – with the Welshman starting just one Premier League game away to West Bromwich Albion so far.

Can you name these 10 former Spurs stars? Let's get started! Who is this?

He also missed Spurs’ encounter with Crystal Palace at the weekend through illness as it is unclear whether he can feature tonight against Liverpool – but Mourinho’s selection of the star summer signing has attracted criticism from some sections of the media.

Robinson tips Bale conundrum for Mourinho

The 31-year-old, according to Robinson, could now be knocking on the door for a start – with Tottenham receiving praise from the pundit over their careful treatment of Bale considering his past fitness issues.

“If Tottenham are going to pay his wages for a season then they will want Gareth Bale both fit and available for every single game,” explained Robinson.

“From the start they’ve eased him in gradually, they’ve eased him in to the way that they play, they’ve integrated him into the squad and you can see that he’s getting more minutes and he played in Europe for 90 minutes the other week.

“You’re getting him to a point where he’s knocking on the door going ‘I’m ready to start now’, but at the moment there are players who are already playing week-in, week-out. It’s a conundrum for Mourinho and one that he will definitely like to have.”

Transfer Tavern take

Described as a ‘diamond‘ by club legend David Ginola, the Spurs boss has been presented with a slight dilemma according to Robinson as the Lilywhites eventually could have to make the huge call of giving him a proper Premier League run in the team.

Whether or not Tottenham supporters will see much more of Bale over the coming weeks remains to be seen, but it could be an interesting development.
