He explained (via football.london): "In terms of others from the U18s from last season, I think Nile John could be a contender for some first-team opportunities.

"Starting off in the U18s in 2020/21 before playing for the U23s, Jose Mourinho quite clearly saw something in the player as he was handed his senior bow in the Europa League.

"He's looked rather good in training under Espirito Santo so far in the clips Spurs have published to their social media channels."

The Verdict: Exciting times in the academy...

Lauded as a player on the right path to becoming an 'exciting' and 'talented' asset at the highest grade by the secret scout (Daily Mail), John is just one of many youngsters impressing at Hotspur Way.

Dane Scarlett is another prospect who has been impressing at Spurs since the turn of the year, with Mourinho calling him a 'diamond' after impressing in the Europa League.

In what looks set to be an interesting first season in charge for Nuno at Tottenham, supporters may be hoping to see more of the delightful prospects emerging in north London in the same manner that Harry Kane did a few years ago.
