Speaking to German news outlet Bild, as relayed by Sport Witness, reliable journalist Christian Falk has dropped an enticing Tottenham Hotspur claim involving Julian Nagelsmann – with the reporter saying it’s a move he could be open to.
Spurs have been linked with appointing Nagelsmann as a potential heir to Jose Mourinho amid continued sack pressure, as well as the likes of Brendan Rodgers, but Falk has now shared a development on the German manager.
Indeed, Falk claims that Nagelsmann sees Tottenham as ‘clearly on the list’ of clubs he’d be able to imagine as his next step – with the ideal route being towards a top tier club like Real Madrid.
Journalist drops enticing Nagelsmann update
The German apparently has a ‘very clear’ plan on his next steps, and Spurs could be seen as a stepping stone between his current job at RB Leipzig and a position with a ‘stage 1’ side.
“Now that gets a True, whether he actually ends up at Tottenham, is of course very dependent on Mourinho and his performance,” he told BILD (via Sport Witness).
“In principle, Nagelsmann has a very clear career plan in different stages at Leipzig.
“Let’s say he’s now at stage 3, the career plan will end at the club like Real Madrid, which is clearly stage 1, but in between, he would apparently like to make another intermediate step.
“Tottenham is clearly on the list of the clubs he would be able to imagine now as the next step when he completes his mission at Leipzig.”
Transfer Tavern take
Whether or not Spurs turn to Nagelsmann if Mourinho is sacked remains to be seen, but they may have been offered a hint of encouragement.
