Speaking to Sky Sports, former Spurs striker Peter Crouch has hailed the ‘unbelievable’ Gareth Bale whilst claiming his return to form could be a ‘huge bonus for Tottenham’ ahead of their clash with Antwerp tonight.
Bale, who re-signed over the summer in a season-long loan deal, grabbing headlines galore and capturing the imaginations of supporters throughout the world, will apparently play against the Belgians this evening as he continues his return to full fitness.
Jose Mourinho revealed in his press conference last night that the Welshman would feature, with Spurs looking to build upon their solid 3-0 win over LASK in the opening Europa League group stage game.
Crouch hails Bale
Bale’s return for the encounter, as well as his return to north London in general, has now been hailed by pundit Crouch – with the Sky man waxing lyrical over just how crucial he could be to Spurs’ title chances.
“He needs to get up to speed, but he is a world-class player,” explained the ex-Tottenham favourite.
“He was electric at Real Madrid, absolutely unbelievable. If we get half the player we are still going to get a very impressive player and a huge bonus for Tottenham.
“If a player of that calibre feels wanted and he’s happy around the training ground then you are going to get a top player.”
Transfer Tavern take
Antwerp now beckons for Mourinho’s men after a hard fought 1-0 win away to Burnley, and Tottenham will be looking to get the job done in a manner far less last gasp.
Winning the Europa League is a realistic goal for the Lilywhites this campaign and Bale’s presence could be a huge lift, as explained by Crouch, with it potentially only being a matter of time before supporters see him back to his very best.
