Tottenham may have a tough trip to the Etihad to face Manchester City tomorrow, but five years ago today the Lilywhites faced West Ham United in what was both Mauricio Pochettino and Eric Dier’s first game after arriving at the club.

Dier was the hero, bagging a late, late goal for the ten-manned Spurs side to deliver Pochettino with a first win in what was his first game. Fast-forward five years and both are still at the club having played their part in hundreds of matches.
On Dier’s part, since his debut five years ago he’s racked up 210 appearances for the Lilywhites, Transfermarkt, and at the age of just 25-years-old it seems that there’s plenty more time for the defensive midfielder to put in another couple of hundred appearances.

The Lilywhites all, from the tweets above, seem to have very fond memories of Dier’s debut and now the midfield man will need to get back to his best to deliver more moments like this.
