Many Tottenham Hotspur fans are fuming that the club decided to put Eric Dier on the cover of their official match-day programme ahead of the FA Cup last-sixteen clash with Norwich City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The England midfielder has no goals and just two assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for the club this season (via Transfermarkt). Although he is a defensively-minded midfielder and has played in the centre of defence for Jose Mourinho this season, he may feel himself that he wants to improve.
Despite this, fellow defensive-midfielder Harry Winks has not registered a goal or assist in 31 appearances across all competitions this season (via Transfermarkt). By these statistics it is arguable that Dier is having a better season than Winks for example. However, it is the front cover with Dier on it that fans have reacted badly to on Twitter:
