Tottenham supporters have taken notice of the gossip brought into the Football Transfer Tavern by The Mirror.
The paper suggests that club record signing Erik Lamela wants to depart on loan as he seeks regular football.
The £30 million summer acquisition, who was billed as Gareth Bale’s replacement, is already attracting the attentions of both Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid as he continues to struggle following his switch to White Hart Lane.
The 21-year-old Argentine told former boss Andre Villas-Boas that he required a first team berth as he looks to keep his World Cup dream alive.
However new Spurs manager Tim Sherwood is yet to be convinced by the former Roma winger.
Lamela, who has only made three Premier League starts this term, did little to impress Sherwood after starting during the Lilywhites’ recent Capital One Cup defeat to West Ham United and again failed to perform as a second half substitute during their recent 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion.
As Lamela’s frustrations continue, the winger has now attracted interest from a number of top European clubs, who are viewing his excellent form at Roma as his true potential.
However Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has no desire to loan out his record signing so early into his Spurs career.
It was recently revealed that Villas-Boas did not want Lamela but the huge signing was down to technical director Franco Baldini, who still holds hope that the youngster will be a success at White Hart Lane.
