Tottenham pulled off a master-stroke in this summer’s window – here’s why

Llorente

Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are reflecting on what has been a pretty intriguing summer transfer window for them for sure.

The men from north London came into the summer widely expecting their club to sign some players quickly and efficiently to really make a statement.

Instead, though, the club only really got itself together in the final few weeks of the window to sign some players and many fans are rightly wondering what could have been for their club if they’d acted sooner.

However, it’s not all doom and gloom for the Lilywhites when you look at their business – the players they’ve signed should all something – and one particular arrival really could be handy for them.

Indeed, out of nowhere Spurs gazumped Chelsea on Deadline Day to bring in Fernando Llorente from Swansea and he could just be the kind of player needed to see Spurs enjoy a good campaign.

A proven Premier League goal-scorer and a top performer in Europe, Llorente can handle the big stage and will naturally help Spurs as they look to challenge domestically and on the continent.

And, if and when Harry Kane gets injured or goes off the boil, he’ll be more than capable of stepping up and providing a dangerous presence up top – more so than Vincent Janssen – which could just earn Spurs some honours.

It wasn’t a ground-breaking move, of course, but it could just prove to be an inspired one.

Thoughts, Spurs fans? Let us know below!
