The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are hoping Mauricio Pochettino is able to strengthen his hand before tomorrow’s deadline.
Though few would doubt the quality available to the Argentine in his starting XI, the options outside of that leave a lot to be desired and our north London locals want an improvement on life at Wembley.
With that in mind, reports from the London Evening Standard haven’t gone down well at all today, even if they are understandable. They claim Spurs are considering a delay in their move for Ross Barkley, following his recent hamstring injury.
Indeed, the 23-year-old has been touted as a target in north London for months now, though recently tore his hamstring in training and will reportedly be out for around three months.
While the England international is believed to have been under consideration since last winter by Spurs, there is said to be an uncertainty over whether or not he arrives this summer.
Even in light of his injury, our local Lillywhites truly hope their club buy Barkley, amid reported interest from Chelsea.
Landlord’s Verdict:
Pochettino’s strong record when working with young English talent should seriously excite fans over Barkley. The man clearly has ability and the idea of him returning to full fitness while bedding in with Spurs could see him start his development well.
With Chelsea said to be keen, Spurs should sign him up, regardless of his injury.
Thoughts?
