Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik this summer, according to football.london as per @RickSpur.
Alasdair Gold revealed that Tottenham are interested in players who are entering the final year of their contracts, such as Milik and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as well as those who will become free agents in a matter of weeks, like Nathan Ferguson and Ryan Fraser.
Goal reported that Napoli are resigned to losing players in the summer, despite the fact Dries Mertens will stay at the Stadio San Paolo for at least two more seasons. Gennaro Gattuso admitted that some of his stars are likely to leave at the end of the season, with Milk, Kalidou Koulibaly and Hirving Lozano all subject to rampant transfer speculation.
Last month, transfer guru Nicolo Schira claimed that the Lilywhites are in discussions with the Azzurri to sign the forward in the upcoming window.
As it stands, Milik still hasn’t signed a contract extension, which will surely give Jose Mourinho a major boost. Admittedly, he has previously said he wants to play for Manchester United, who Mourinho will face tonight. The Portuguese is on the hunt for a back-up for Harry Kane and Spurs have been linked with a number of European strikers so far, including Victor Osimhen and Vedat Muriqi.
The Polish international has been in fine form for Napoli over the past couple of seasons but it seems he is now set for a shock departure. Indeed, he has scored 46 goals in 109 games for the Parthenopeans up until now.
However, Corriere dello Sport reported that Aurelio De Laurentiis values Milik at £45m to seal the deal. At the moment, clubs are facing financial pressures as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and Daniel Levy has had to borrow a huge sum of £175m from the Bank of England to cover the costs.
Therefore, it is difficult to imagine that Levy will be willing to splash the cash on the Pole, given the current economic climate stemming from the COVID-19 crisis.
