Speaking to the press (via Futbol Arena), Adana Demirspor president Murat Sancak has made a major January claim involving Tottenham and their former midfielder Dele Alli.

The Lowdown: Alli completes Everton switch...

After some fine moments at N17 with memories aplenty, former Mauricio Pochettino favourite Alli waved goodbye to Spurs and completed a switch to Everton on deadline day.

It is believed the Englishman's initial free transfer to Goodison Park could eventually rise to around £40 million if certain conditions and clauses are met (The Mirror), with the first £10m coming once he makes 20 appearances under Frank Lampard.

An unceremonious end to what was a very promising start to his Tottenham career, club chief Sancak of the Turkish Super Lig now claims that Alli could have made a shock switch.

The Latest: Sancak makes major claim...

The Adana Demirspor chief says that his side very nearly completed a deal to sign the 6 foot 2 attacker in the final days of January, but Everton and Lampard then scuppered his plans.

"We agreed with Tottenham for Dele Alli. They would rent us," he stated to the press.

"Even his older brother came to Turkey. The transfer was almost complete. Just then, when Lampard went to Everton, he messed up for us.”

The Verdict: Surprise...

A move to Turkey on loan certainly would've come as a surprise given Alli's big name status and we're sure a second chance of shining in the Premier League at Everton is far more appealing to the 25-year-old.

The question remains as to whether he can rediscover his once imperious form which prompted Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy to place a sky-high £100 million price tag on his head back in 2016.

Having scored a career total 91 goals, even before his mid-20s, the quality is certainly there with Lampard now tasked with bringing it back to the forefront and saving Alli's career.
